Frequently asked questions
Where do the live rates come from?
The free Frankfurter exchange-rate service, which publishes daily reference rates from the European Central Bank. Rates are indicative — banks and card providers add their own margin.
Why would I type my own rate?
Because the rate you actually get — from your bank, card or bureau — is rarely the reference rate. Typing it in converts at the rate that applies to you.
How fresh is a live rate?
Reference rates update once per working day. If you need a rate for a large payment, confirm it with your provider at the time you pay.
Does the tool store my amounts?
No. Every conversion runs in your browser, and live-rate lookups only request the currency pair, never your amount.
