Frequently asked questions
How are answers simplified?
The result is divided by the greatest common divisor of its numerator and denominator, so 6/8 is shown as 3/4.
What is a mixed number?
A whole number plus a fraction, like 1 1/2 instead of 3/2. It is shown whenever the answer is larger than one whole.
Why can I not divide by a fraction equal to zero?
Dividing by zero is undefined in mathematics, so the tool refuses a second fraction of 0 rather than inventing an answer.
