URL Encoder / Decoder
Special characters break URLs unless they are percent-encoded. This tool encodes text for safe use in URLs, and decodes encoded URLs back into readable text — the daily bread of technical SEO work.
Use the tool
How to use the URL Encoder / Decoder
- Paste your text and choose encode or decode.
- Adjust any optional settings to match your page, business or campaign.
- Click the button to generate your result instantly — nothing is uploaded; the tool runs in your browser.
- Copy the result, or download it as a file where that option appears, and paste it into your site, document or campaign.
Frequently asked questions
What gets encoded?
Spaces become %20, ampersands %26, and so on — the characters that would otherwise break a URL or change its meaning.
Encode or encodeURI — same thing?
This tool encodes the full string including separators, which is right for query values. Whole working URLs need their slashes and colons left intact.
Why does decode fail sometimes?
A stray % or a truncated sequence is invalid encoding. The tool reports it instead of guessing.
